Enjoyable village Zell am Harmersbach
Zell am Harmersbach is a historic town of 8100 inhabitants. It was the smallest “Reichsstadt” (imperial city) in the middle ages. So it has the romantic charme with its well preserved city walls, pituresque comers, the “Storchenturm” (stork tower), the “Hirschturm” (deer tower).
The town wall is still in tact.
The feast for the eyes is the main street with the “Jugendstil” houses (art noveau) and the typical half timbered houses.
The main street invites the tourists for window
shopping, strolling or drinking coffee on a cosy terrace. Don’t forget the Black Forest gateau.


Harmersbachtal, the brilliant hiking area
The predominantly rural district Unterharmersbach (240 - 940m above sea level) shows romantic side valleys with typical
Black Forest farm houses.
Start directly from our "Haus Barbara" to small or large hikes and excursions through the fascinating Nature Park Black Forest middle / north.
Over 300 km of marked trails with interesting destinations are waiting for you.
Do not forget hiking clothes because the weather can change from one moment to the next.


The Zeller Städtle- markt - let's live here!
Around the ”Storchenturm” (stork tower) you can experience the historic traditional weekly market.
For your snack-pack the “Städtle- markt” offers a
tasty culinary variety of our region: Black Forest bread baked in a wood fired oven, bacon from
the smokehouse, Black Forest cherry brandy and the Black Forest cherry cake well known over the world.


Lots of entertainment in the Zeller Städtle
The “Kanzleiplatz” is the historical centre of numerous events and concerts (from classic to pop) during the summer months. Enjoy the thrilling open-air cinema on a mild evening.


Topfit after the vacation
The “Gröbernhof” invites you to play golf; the 18 hole golf course is situated near Zell in an idyllic Black Forest countryside around the course.

It is close to the "Haus Barbara” (2000m).

Endless Hiking, Nordic Walking and Mountain Biking
Zell a.H. is the centre of the holidy area “Brandenkopf” and has panoramic trails with perfect (footpath marks) standardized signs.
There are guided tours (Nordic Walking) in the healthy Black Forest fresh air around Zell a.H. The endless, attractive trail system offers ideal conditions for mountain -biking(from easy – medium to difficult).


The “Storchenturmmuseum” there are 3000 exhibits on show spread over 4 storeys. You can admire the 850 year old culture and history of Zell.


The Fürstenberger Hof is a typical Black Forest farmhouse, a constant reminder of what was built 300 m years ago. It was a working farm up to 1970 and then turned into a museum. It is furnished as if the whole family has left every thing for a few hours just to go out into fields.
The museum is surround by a nicely arranged Kurpark. Concerts are presented and other events: tourists can observe the traditional farm works.


In the historical printing press in the vault of the “Storchenturmmuseum” you can look back to 110 years of newspaper print in Zell.


A jewel for friends of Arts – the museum “Villa Haiss”

As a contrast to the historical museums the “Villa Haiss” exhibits contemporary artists: originals of the well known Baselitz, Beuys, Christo, Kaminsky and Warhol are on display. In the ground floor exhibitions are changing every 3 months.
